Surgery Pod - Self Health Check
We have a self health check pod in the Upper Wickham Lane branch which is available for use during opening hours.
You can use the surgery pod for the following:
- contraception review
- new patient medical check
- asthma review
- and many more options available
Under 5s Immunisation Clinic
Clinics in held each Wednesday 1.00pm to 3.00pm at Upper Wickham Lane for patients to attend from both sites.
The clinics are for the under-fives for child development checks and immunisations and allow an opportunity to discuss other problems.
Health Checks
We offer and encourage patients to have health checks as follows:
- new patients – as soon as they register with us
- patients over the age of 75 – once a year
- NHS Health checks – people age 40 to 74 years old who do not already have a chronic condition
- all patients – every three years if you have not been seen for another reason.
These comprise of a simple health check, including blood pressure and urine testing.
Advice about diet and lifestyle is available.
Women’s Health
Our Practice Nurse’s perform cervical smears and teach breast self-examination & give advice on contraception.
Asthma & COPD
Our team of nurses regularly monitors patients with asthma and COPD. If you have Asthma or COPD it is important to have at least an annual check to monitor your condition and make sure you are taking the correct medication. For emergencies, a nebuliser is available at all surgeries.
Child Health
Health Visitors can be contacted on 0300 330 5777 at Wrotham Road and will offer the following: childhood immunisations, developmental checks, weighing and general advice for families of the under fives.
Coronary Heart Disease/Hypertension/Hypothyroidism/Epilepsy
Patients with the above diseases will be reviewed by the GP or Practice Nurse by appointment.
Foreign Travel
We will be happy to advise you on the immunisations required for foreign travel. General travel advice is also available. Please arrange any necessary immunisations at least eight weeks before you travel.
A charge will be made for some immunisations and vaccinations which are not covered by the NHS. A list of these charges is held at reception.
Family Planning
Our GP’s and Nurse Practitioners are happy to advise and prescribe both oral contraceptives and Long Acting Reversible Contraception such as injections, coils and implants, which can all be done during a separate appointment with our doctors.
Menopause
The doctors provide information and support, including lifestyle advice and Hormone Replacement Therapy.
Support Services
We are able to refer or give information regarding the following: Interpreting Service, Eleanor, Community Psychiatrist and other Practitioners with special interests. We also offer Social Prescribing for our patients.
Non-NHS Examinations
The doctors carry out private medicals, e.g. insurance and driving license, by appointment only, outside of their normal clinic hours. Please telephone the surgery for an appointment and explain what the medical is for. The fees charged for these services are in line with the BMA recommended charges.
